Support for Keystone Quality Teacher Framework Project
PDE initiated a multi-year plan to improve the quality of its teachers called the Keystone Quality Teacher Framework (KQT). Under the direction of the Secretary's Policy 0ffice, Pennsylvania, with the assistance of the Center for Improving Teacher Quality and MACC, developed a plan focusing on developing, implementing, and aligning state teacher standards.
In Year 3, MACC continued its support of the PDE Keystone Quality Teacher Project by participating in three Work Groups that developed revised certification requirements for special education, early childhood, and a new middle school certificate.
MACC also joined the Pennsylvania Collaborative Coaching Board which guides and trains Pennsylvania's numerous teacher coaches.
Migrant Comprehensive Needs Assessment
PDE completed its Migrant comprehensive needs assessment (CNA) process designed to help them to identify the special educational needs of migrant children and determine the specific services that will help migrant children achieve the State’s measurable outcomes and performance targets.
Support Implementation of Supplemental Educational Services In Pennsylvania
MACC in partnership with the Center for Innovation and Improvement (CII) supported Pennsylvania Department of Education staff responsible for implementation and evaluation of Supplementary Educational Services. Year 3’s goals included providing assistance in the examination of Interim/Probationary Status Options for Providers, the monitoring and evaluation of SES Service Providers, and enhanced collaboration between PDE SES and parent and community programs.
RTI Expertise Sharing
Pennsylvania is among leading states in its commitment to using Response to Intervention (RTI) as a process to improve student outcomes. MACC collaborated with the Content Center On Instruction to identify best practices that support the broadening and deepening of RTI practices throughout Pennsylvania, with particular emphasis on schools in need of improvement.
