Technical Assistance Providers for Students with Disabilities

A central location for technical assistance resources on English language learners is the Regional Resource & Federal Center Network , consisting of the Federal Resource Center and the Regional Resource Centers (RRCs). (Our partner RRC is the Mid-South Regional Resource Center.)

Their mission is to help State Education Agencies (SEAs) improve their systems of early intervention, special education, and transition services through the development and implementation of policies, programs, and practices to enhance educational results for children and youth with disabilities. Products include IDEA information, topic briefs, news about special education, and products such as "Keeping Quality Teachers"

ACCESS Center
Provides technical assistance to strengthen State and local capacity to help K-8 students with disabilities effectively learn in the general education curriculum

Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST)
Develops technology-based educational resources and strategies based on the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

National Center on Educational Outcomes (NCEO)
Provides national leadership in the participation of students with disabilities in national and state assessments, standards-setting efforts, and graduation requirements

The National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities (NICHCY)
Provides information on (a) disabilities in infants, toddlers, children, and youth, (b) IDEA, which is the law authorizing special education, and (c) No Child Left Behind (as it relates to children with disabilities), and research-based information on effective educational practices

National Dropout Prevention Center for Students with Disabilities (NDPC-SD)
Supports the national implementation of provisions of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to provide successful school outcomes for students with disabilities. NDPC-SD supports states in assisting local education agencies to increase school completion rates and decrease dropout rates among students with disabilities. National Center on Secondary Education and Transtion (NCSET)
Provides support to states in program improvement and secondary transition for youth with disabilities

National Postschool Outcomes Center (PSO)
States now need to collect and use data on postsecondary education and employment status of youth with disabilities. While some states have such systems in place, others do not and are seeking guidance on how to collect those data, as well as how to analyze, and use them to improve programs and outcomes. This center provides support to states in their efforts on data collection on indicators of school and post school performance of youth with disabilities
