The AACC implements, evaluates, and improves assessment and accountability systems so that states and districts can reach the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) goal of academic proficiency for all students.

Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing (CRESST)
CRESST is organized around four sustained R & D programs (Accountability Systems, Research on Assessment Tools, Research on Methodology, and Linguistic and Special Needs Students) and one integrated dissemination program.
National Center on Educational Outcomes (NCEO):
Provides national leadership in the participation of students with disabilities in national and state assessments, standards-setting efforts, and graduation requirements
National Center on Student Progress Monitoring (NCSPM): Provides technical assistance to states and districts and disseminate information about progress monitoring practices proven to work in different academic content areas (Gr. K-5)
National Alternate Assessment Center (NAAC):
This national research and model demonstration center coordinates its work with technical assistance centers to assist States in improving and implementing alternate assessments
