Pennsylvania Statewide Technical Assistance System

The Pennsylvania Department of Education provides three levels of support to schools and districts in improvement status.

  1. The first level of support focuses on planning tools that schools and districts can use to identify and address student achievement issues. These tools are available on the state website and the state department of education and regional Intermediate Units provide periodic training and support for the use of these tools.

  2. The second level of support focuses on providing schools and districts with assistance in using state improvement planning tools. These services are provided to schools and districts by state education staff and by state supported Intermediate Units.

  3. The third level of support focuses on the use of Distinguished Educators to provide support to high need schools and districts in advanced levels of school improvement status. The state identifies and notifies districts requiring this third level of support
